This Con-E-Co – mobile concrete batching plant had been imported from the USA approximately 18 years ago. It was purchased to replace existing plant. However, plans changed, and it was decided that the existing plant would be rebuilt. This left the Con-E-Co sitting in a harsh coastal and
industrial environment for nearly 20 years.

Late last year, it was identified for use in the lower North Island. CALD tendered for the rebuild process and was successful in winning that contract. When it arrived in our workshop it was completely inoperable, it had only every been run for 15 minutes when it first arrived in New Zealand.

In order to bring this plant back to life, we began by conducting a full mechanical and pneumatic strip of all its components. We could then undertake a detailed assessment of what was required and developed a plan of attack. This included rebuilding all mechanical, electrical and pneumatic components.

Due to the environment where it had been kept, it also required extensive structural welding and fabrication. To return it to its former glory, we also carried out a complete bare metal abrasive blast and coated it with 400 micron superior corrosion resistant epoxy paint system.
Finally, we arranged heavy haulage to deliver it safely to its new home and worked closely with the site engineers on correct positioning and set up to ensure optimal productivity, efficiency and sustainability.

We returned this magnificent piece of engineering to its former glory. The project demonstrates multiple engineering disciplines including CAD design and drafting, mechanical machining and fitting, fabrication and welding and also abrasive blasting, painting and commissioning.
